Amazon adds OpenAI products to AWS after Microsoft change

Following a new agreement between OpenAI and Microsoft, Amazon announced that it has integrated OpenAI's latest models into its AWS platform, specifically its AI-building service Bedrock. The initiative includes a new artificial intelligence agent service called Bedrock Managed Agents, which leverages OpenAI's reasoning models. Amazon also hinted in a blog post at the potential for "deeper collaboration" in the future. The move came a day after OpenAI announced that Microsoft, LinkedIn's parent company, no longer had exclusive rights to its products.

Amazon's cloud unit is looking to sell AI-powered productivity software for the office. This comes after OpenAI's exclusivity clause with Microsoft expired. OpenAI models, Codex on AWS, and Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI are coming to AWS in limited preview, giving customers more ways to build with frontier models, agents, and tools inside the AWS systems they already use. This partnership will help customers accelerate application development, software engineering, agentic workflows, research, analysis, and more, while staying aligned with their existing security, governance, compliance, and procurement workflows. Amazon Connect is evolving into a set of agentic solutions that run core business workflows. And Amazon Quick is becoming an even more powerful AI assistant. Quick learns how you work, builds context over time, and takes action across your data and systems.
